When you don’t have enough heat in a particular area or need a new heating solution for an indoor space, outdoor space, or garden outbuilding there are many options available. One of the best solutions for heating these areas can be infrared heating.
As your local ELECTRICIAN IN CREWKERNE I regularly carry out infrared heating panel installations.
What is infrared heating?
Infrared heating converts electricity into radiant heat. It is similar to the warmth that you would feel from the sun but without the ultra violet radiation. Infrared heaters warm up objects and not the air so little energy is wasted compared with other forms of electric heating as the heat gets directly to you rather than being lost heating the air on the way.
Infrared heating has been around for many decades but is now becoming more popular with many different products available on the market.
What do the panels look like?
Modern infrared heating panels can be very discreet and if using these panels inside your home, they can blend into the environment. The panels come in various shapes and sizes and can work as a standalone heating solution or in conjunction with other heating sources.
Its often best to install these panels on the ceiling surface as can be seen from the photograph. The panels work most efficiently in this manner and can heat everything below them. These indoor panels do not give off a visible light like outdoor heaters and are a more-gentle form of heat due to being long wave heaters.
Can I have infrared heating outdoors?
There are different types of infrared heating for outdoor spaces. Outdoor heaters use a more intense type of infrared heater, these tend to glow red and transmit a higher level of heat suitable for outdoor environments. These are known as medium wave type heaters.
What is involved in the heating installation?
Where you wish to use infrared heating panels at home, I will normally need to conduct a site survey before I am able to quote for the installation of these products. The survey will be an opportunity to have a chat about your heating needs and for me to carry out some checks.
The checks involve finding a local suitable power supply source to install the new heaters in the best location along with ensuring that the supply is able to provide the required power to the heaters.
Most infrared heating systems are controlled by a thermostat in each room in conjunction with an app for your mobile device.
Can panels be installed in a bathroom?
As registered installers to Herschel Infrared we are familiar with their products and they offer some fantastic bathroom infrared heating solutions. Panels in bathrooms can double as towel radiators and look incredibly modern and sleek.
Infrared heating panels are available in a mirrored finish to double as a bathroom mirror thereby saving space whilst offering heating solutions to bathroom areas.
